This newsletter has always looked back at the pieces of news that made the rounds the previous week. However, this week, we're going to do things a little differently.
It's Genesis week on the PGA Tour, Tiger's tournament, and the big reveal of SUNDAY RED, Tiger's new apparel venture. By the time you see this, we will likely know what the collection looks like, as well as the key companies bringing SUNDAY RED to life.
The two big questions we have: Will it be aimed at the masses? Will it be accessible? Let’s take a trip down memory lane and look at his Nike apparel through the years to see if the future may bear any resemblance to the past.
Historically, the TW collection at Nike made up a small percentage of their seasonal golf collections. The garments were traditionally made from premium fabrics and always retailed at a higher price point than the basic Nike equivalents. This potentially answers the question of 'will it be aimed at the masses'. Accessibility could also be a problem; a high price point, during a cost of living crisis, has the potential to put off many golfers aspiring to wear the new range. Moreover, if there are only a handful of stockists, accessing the latest collection could be difficult.
Are you hyped for the new brand, collection, partnership, or whatever it may look like? We are excited to see it and also to see Tiger on the course at Riviera, which is always a great event on the PGA Tour.
